The gold medal is the second award scooped by the cosmopolitan marina in under a week. Just days earlier, and for the second consecutive year, the resort was awarded the distinction of ‘Best International Marina of the Year’, by The Yacht Harbour Association.
The more recent accolade was announced on Monday afternoon in the Regional Algarve Tourism awards ceremony, held at the Algarve Hospitality and Tourism School in Faro.
The ceremony aims to distinguish local businesses and personalities who most contribute towards the region’s prestige and to the development of the sector in recent years.
It was attended by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Ana Mendes Godinho, and also marked the RTA’s 45 years in business.
Isolete Correia, Director of Vilamoura Marina, said “Winning two awards in one week is fantastic. It not only demonstrates the excellent work that has been developed, but also reflects the impact of the Marina and of Vilamoura on Portuguese tourism. More than just a prize, this distinction is an encouragement to continue to grow and make Vilamoura a point of reference for sailing activities in Portugal, Europe and the World.”
